HI I'm Kim...Thanks for stopping by
Redeemed Glass is mostly about revealing the possibilities that discarded glass holds through melting, tumbling and repurposing. I began melting glass using compatible, fusible glass however, it was a bit expensive to experiment with. I discovered some projects that utilized wine bottles so, I picked some up at my favorite restaurant to experiment with. Then I realized that I had a lot of other glass I had been just throwing away. That was my light bulb moment, which was the inspiration for Redeemed Glass. Welcome take a look around and explore the many items I have created. I have created three pages for your shopping pleasure.....Feel free to email me with any questions you might have.
Melted and slumped
Melting bottle glass is an adventure and even after hundreds of firings, I still find a surprise or two when I open the kiln. Some bottles, like the one pictured, are slumped in molds to be used as a tray for cheese and crackers, olives and such. Smaller jars and bottles are also kiln form for use as a spoon rest, napkin holder. Color is added using copper mica like the one pictured or glass frit. The designs are created by the mold or by adding a decal..
Talking Tag ™
Personalize your gift with a audio message using the Talking Tag. This is such a fun techie gadget that can be added to any gift. The Talking Tag™, can be utilized with the Talking Tag™ app to record and playback up to one minute of an audio message on a smart device.
I also like to see other items redeemed as well and when I come across something interesting I like to give it a try. Check out my blog site purposereimagined to see what I have been up to such as taking a cane back chair and turning it into a lighting feature. Purpose Reimagined is more about providing information on how I Did It Myself (DIM) so you can DIY.
Has the appearance of sea glass and is created by breaking glass, mixing it with water, small rocks, and sand and tumbling it for over 8 hours in a cement mixer. Tumbled glass is sold in its raw state by the bag for mosaic projects like the one pictured or by the piece for pendants or other projects. Individual pieces are slightly reshaped to enhance their beauty, and then drilled or embellished adding a beautiful focal point for your project.
Baubles and such from the bottle
A bauble is the perfect focal element for any project. A bauble is created by cutting the top of the bottle off then melting it in the kiln at temps up to 1500 degrees. Other melted pendants are created by cutting out shapes and then melting and embellishing them.
No melting or tumbling required
Sometimes all a bottle needs is a bit of repurposing. Top pic: Dream Keepers, "Let Yesterdays Dream Become a Reality Today" each keeper has unique charms that match the sentiment written in the bottle. Bottom pic: bottles filled with lights and decoupaged with beautiful papers. Either makes a beautiful house warming or hostess gift.
